Information technology systems architects, senior information technology scientists, research staff especially in the telecommunications domain.
Research and development engineers involved in the OMG standardisation process regarding all issues relating to Model Driven Architecture.
The current status of the Model Driven Architecture in OMG is coined to a large extent by a number of distinct technologies and standards, which are loosely coupled together. The MDA aware reader, although able to find the relevant information, is mostly left alone to decide which technologies and standards to combine and use in order to apply the MDA in certain field.
The relationship of the ingredients (technologies and standards) of the MDA is not directly evident to a systems architect or an applications designer in a specific domain. While this target groups for the MDA approach is expected to benefit most, there is no complete or consistent methodology that can be followed for an MDA-compliant development.
This document presents the formalization principles of the core MDA technologies already presented in the Deliverable D3.2. The definition and support of models, marking and transformations is precisely analysed, and the different alternatives used in the use cases developed in the project are presented. It also makes a first step to identify and to define the core ingredients that could lead to a deployable “MDA Component”, that would allow a high level of interoperability among different MDA tools.
